How to increase the level of magnesium and zinc in the blood with the help of nutrition: expert advice

In winter, some trace elements are indispensable for the proper functioning of the body. This is especially true of magnesium and zinc. Expert biochemist Maria Kuleshova told how to maintain the necessary level of these elements with the help of nutrition.

The specialist explained that magnesium is a kind of natural anti-stress that helps the body cope with boredom and emotional stress. “Magnesium has a positive effect on the work of the heart, muscles, and nervous system,” Kuleshova added.

Among the products containing magnesium, she singled out:

  • — green leafy vegetables;
  • nuts; – dairy products;
  • soybeans;
  • potatoes;
  • whole wheat;
  • quinoa.

Zinc, in turn, affects the work of the immune system, stimulates the secretion of insulin, participates in the process of regulating the activity of the sebaceous glands. “Sufficient content of zinc in the body improves the condition of hair and nails, as well as vision, normalizes the perception of smells and tastes,” said Kuleshova.

Zinc is present in:

  • beef;
  • liver;
  • seafood and fish;
  • eggs;
  • nuts;
  • pumpkin seeds;
  • sesame seeds;
  • legumes;
  • cereals.

At the same time, it is almost impossible to understand whether there are enough trace elements in food. Therefore, Kuleshova recommends getting elements not only from food, but also from drinking water.

“In order to guarantee the daily intake of magnesium and zinc, it is better to enrich drinking water with the necessary elements. Zinc, dissolved in liquid and drunk on an empty stomach, is absorbed by 90% better than from food, magnesium by 70%,” concluded the specialist.
