It is not practical to send British fighter jets to Ukraine – UK Government

The British Prime Minister’s spokesman stated that to send British fighter jets to Ukraine would be impractical at this moment of time.

The British Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson is quoted by the Evening Standard.

“The UK’s Typhoon and F-35 fighter jets are extremely sophisticated and take months to learn how to fly. Given that we believe that it’s not practical to send those jets into Ukraine,” he said.

“Obviously, we will continue to provide and accelerate our military support to Ukraine and listen carefully to their requests,” he added.

Answering to the question whether the Government of the United Kingdom will allow other allies to provide Ukraine with less advanced jets, he added: “We will continue to discuss with our allies about what we think is the right approach. We have just committed our Challenger tanks and moved in conjunction with our allies on that. Those tanks will be arriving fairly shortly.”

On Monday, US President Joe Biden stated that the United States do not plan to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
