Floribunda blooms almost continuously, its large inflorescences surprise with a wide range of colors and an unforgettable aroma. These roses are grown along garden paths, borders and internal low fences are created from them, and some even grow at home.
Planting a floribunda roses
Plant floribundas, as well as other types of roses, in spring or autumn. For growing a floribunda rose, it is better to choose a sunny and wind-protected place. If the soil in your garden is heavy clay, then before planting roses, compost and sand should be added. And if the soil is sandy, humus and clay are added. In order to plant a rose, make holes 40x40x40 cm in size, water them with water, and then pour a mixture of earth and humus with a hill. Before planting, the roots of the seedling should be immersed in a liquid nutrient mixture (a mixture of mullein and clay) for 30 minutes.
The seedling of the floribunda rose is placed in the hole so that the grafting site is 1-2 cm above the soil level. Then the roots are sprinkled with soil, and on top they are mulched with peat or humus.
Floribunda rose care
Caring for a floribunda rose is simple. The plant has good winter hardiness, as well as resistance to pests and diseases. The soil under the plants must be constantly loosened and mulched. In the description of floribunda rose care, a special place is occupied by plant pruning.
Floribunda roses are pruned twice during the season: in spring and summer. The main pruning is spring, during which the bush is formed by cutting the shoots by 10-15 cm. Spring pruning is carried out immediately after wintering or after planting. Summer pruning of the floribunda rose increases the duration of its flowering. You can’t prune roses in autumn, this will weaken the bush before wintering. Weak and poorly developed plants should be pruned harder than vigorous and strong ones.
For the winter, floribunda roses need to be covered. Before shelter, it is necessary to cut off the buds, unripe shoots, flowers and leaves and spray the bushes with Bordeaux liquid. All fallen leaves and cut shoots must be burned. Before the onset of persistent frosts, the bases of roses should be covered with earth or peat for 20-25 cm.
Prevention of diseases
For the prevention of fungal diseases, even before bud break or during the growing season, floribunda rose bushes are treated with copper sulfate, Bordeaux liquid. If spotting, falling leaves and buds appear, it is necessary to spray the bushes and the soil under them with special chemical preparations. And if you notice aphids, spider mites or leafhoppers, you need to spray the bushes with an insecticide. A good effect is given by the settlement of predatory insects in the rose garden.
Throughout the summer, roses should be regularly watered and fed. At least one bucket of water should be poured under one bush. During the growth period, make two top dressings with a solution of mullein or nitrogen fertilizer. The last fertilizing should be done at the end of August with phosphorus-potassium fertilizer. Before fertilizing, grooves are made around the bushes and watered well. Then liquid fertilizer is applied and watered a little more, after which it is covered with soil.
There is almost no garden area where the queen of the garden – the rose – does not grow. This wonderful flower enlivens any flower garden with its bright colors, and the aroma of rose fragrance will not leave anyone indifferent
The difference between hybrid tea roses and floribunda
The most striking difference between hybrid tea roses and floribunda is their flowers. Hybrid tea roses appear as a single flower on a long stem, making them a favorite for cut flower arrangements. Floribunda produces a large number of flowers on stems. Hybrid tea roses bloom from late spring to early autumn. Our beauty usually blooms later, from early summer to autumn.
