Tributes have been paid to a young girl who died from cancer one hour before her ninth birthday.

Amber Sheehy from Norwich was diagnosed with terminal cancer in April.

Her family said on social media that she died late on Saturday evening “with dignity after fighting a battle she couldn’t win”.

Amber, who played for Horsford FC’s under-nine girls’ team, was Norwich’s City Football Club’s fan of the season last season.

Her family said she died at 23:00 GMT.

Amber’s mum Amanda Sheehy said on Twitter: “My heart has broken.

“Life changed forever, but I promise I will make a difference to other families going through a terminal cancer diagnosis of a child.”

Norwich City also tweeted out a tribute saying the whole club was deeply saddened and their thoughts were with her family

Amber was named the club’s fan of the year last year.

Amber had been diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of five in April 2019 after she started having headaches and being sick in the mornings.

She appeared to have successfully completed her treatment in 2021 and was able to ring a bell signifying her cancer had gone.

But it returned in April 2022 and Amber had spent the past four months in The Nook hospice being cared for.

Her football team, Horsford Under 9s plan to celebrate her life at next weekend’s matches.

They praised Amber’s “most courageous battle”.

German model Tatjana Patitz, who was one of the most famous girls of the supermodel era of the 1990s, has died. She was 56 years old. Details have not yet been announced.

Tatjana Patitz was born in a German-Estonian family in Hamburg, which then moved to a small seaside town in southern Sweden. At the age of 17, she took part in a modeling competition, before that she was already noticed by professional scouts.

“She was much less visible than her peers – more mysterious, more mature, more unattainable – and that was her appeal,” said Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue, with whom Patitz worked a lot. This is also confirmed by her colleagues from the model shop – after the shows, Patits did not run around parties, but most often went home to sleep. She liked to write poems and was already concerned with environmental issues.

Patitz was one of five girls photographed by photographer Peter Lindbergh, giving the world the phenomenon of supermodels. She was also often compared to Romy Schneider and Monica Vitti, calling her type the embodiment of European chic and aristocracy.

Patitz is survived by a son, Jonah, with whom they lived in Malibu.

Elle Edwards murder inquiry: Family pays tribute to ‘most beautiful and bright star’ as two suspects released from custody

A 30-year-old man from Tranmere detained on suspicion of murder and attempted murder has been recalled to prison on licence. A woman, 19, from Rock Ferry who was arrested on Monday on suspicion of conspiracy to murder has been bailed.

What is known

The family of a woman shot dead at a pub have described her as the “most beautiful and bright star” as police continue their hunt for her murderer.

Elle Edwards, 26, was attacked on Christmas Eve at the Lighthouse Inn in Wallasey Village on the Wirral. Detectives say the beautician was not believed to have been the intended target of the shooting which happened shortly before midnight.

In a statement released by Merseyside Police, her loved ones said: “There was no one as beautiful as our Elle May, her looks, her laugh and the way she would light up a room as she walked in.

“Her laugh was infectious, anyone who was around her had a good time, she loved life and had so many amazing plans for the future. She was only just getting started.

“Christmas and our family will never be the same again without her. She was the glue that held this big family together.”

Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs, appearing alongside Ms Edwards’ father Tim at a news conference, read out the family statement, and said officers have spoken to a “large number of witnesses and reviewed a vast amount of CCTV footage”.

She also said officers are “pursuing a number of lines of inquiry still” and added: “We are committed to finding the persons responsible for Elle’s death and putting them behind bars.”

The detective appealed for more information from the public, including about a dark-coloured Mercedes that was seen in the pub car park on the night of the shooting.
